After years of speculation, Rosie O’Donnell has finally answered the question many daytime television fans have been asking:
Would she ever return to The View?
The answer is yes but only under one very specific circumstance.
In a recent interview, O’Donnell said she would be willing to guest co-host the long-running ABC talk show for its upcoming 30th anniversary celebration, but she has no desire to return as a permanent panelist.

O’Donnell explained that she’s open to making a special appearance if she’s invited.
“I would be up to guest host, but they haven’t asked me.”
She added that a one-off appearance for the milestone anniversary would be fun, especially considering the show’s place in television history.
However, she drew a clear distinction between a guest appearance and returning to the panel full time.
That chapter, she suggested, is over.
Why She Won’t Return Permanently
O’Donnell has co-hosted The View twice.
Her first stint, from 2006 to 2007, dramatically boosted ratings but ended after a highly publicized on-air confrontation with conservative co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck over the Iraq War. She briefly returned in 2014, leaving after just a few months because of personal reasons.

Instead, she says she’s happier focusing on creative projects and spending time with her family.

While reflecting on her years at The View, O’Donnell singled out Joy Behar as her favorite co-host.

Rather than returning to daytime television full time, O’Donnell has been embracing new opportunities.
She recently launched her one-woman stage show, Common Knowledge, and is preparing to guest host Jimmy Kimmel Live! while Jimmy Kimmel takes a summer break. She has also said she intends to return to her home in Ireland after those guest-hosting duties conclude.
For O’Donnell, these projects offer more creative freedom than a daily talk show schedule.
